“PLN will also build 11 units of geothermal power plants or PLTP with a total capacity of 880 Mega Watt as part of project development acceleration in generating 10,000 MW this year, the bidding process for construction of PLTP has been started,” said Director of Planning and Technology PT PLN Nasri Sebayang.

Eleven units of geothermal power plants to be built, among others, Sembalun, Kotamobagu, Ijen, Sungai Penuh, Tulehu, Willis, Ngebel, Iyang Agropuro, and Lahendong. Project funding came from the Japan Bank for International Corporation (JBIC) and Asian Development Bank or ADB. “The total funds needed to reach 1.6 billion U.S. dollars,” he said.
